Description

Date & Time: July 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. CT / 7:30 p.m. ET
Speakers: Lauren Kuhn Nuth, DMD, MSD
CEs: Earn 1 CE
Description:
Endodontic pain and emergencies are among the most challenging—and stressful—situations for both dentists and patients. Beyond infection and inflammation, unmet expectations, diagnostic uncertainty, and post-operative complications can quickly lead to frustration for everyone involved.
This webinar will explore high-yield strategies for endodontic diagnosis, expectation setting, and management of same-day emergencies. Dr. Kuhn Nuth will address complex and ambiguous clinical scenarios, including non-responsive pulp vitality testing, hypersensitivity to percussion, and cases where “everything hurts.” Participants will also learn how to identify pre-operative findings that may predict future complications, such as vertical root fractures, flare-ups, or the need for surgical intervention or referral.
Through real-world examples, this session will provide practical tools to improve diagnostic confidence, guide informed consent conversations, and manage both inflammatory and infection-based dental pain—helping clinicians deliver clearer communication, better outcomes, and a more positive patient experience.
Learning Objectives:
- Utilize supplemental strategies for pulp vitality testing and endodontic diagnosis
- Identify common pre-operative findings that may predict the need for referral or future surgical intervention
- Interpret radiographic findings associated with increased risk of vertical root fractures and post-operative flare-ups
- Assess management options for emergency dental pain of inflammatory and infection-based origins
